Hi, I have just brought a Samsung SE-506CB Blu-ray/DVD reader/writer. THis works fine on my Windows 7 laptop (at least for reading burning DVD data discs), but I am unable to get it working on my mid 2010 iMac (27' inch display, Mac OS X 10.6.8): if I insert a DVD data disc, the drive will make these noises, but the DVD disc icon does not appear. For what it is worth, I have this problem as well. The drive tray wouldn't even eject with one cable, so I flipped to another. I could then open the tray (seems odd to me) but the disc would not mount. Here is the console log info that indicates that the OS is getting incorrect feedback from the driver saying the disc is faulty. This same reader/cable/disc work fine on my 10.10.5 MacBook Air and had worked perfectly fine with this same MBP prior to service (and 'complimentary' upgrade to EC by Apple).
